ZIG RIG
The zig rig is perfect for fishing floating baits on or just below the surface. It is important to guage the depth accurately by plumbing so as to present the bait properly. Once you have found the correct depth set the hooklength to around 2 inches below so the bait sits just below the water.
When cast, the lead anchors on the bottom allowing the hookbait to rise to the depth you have set.
This rig can be a bit tricky to cast due to the long hooklength. If the hooklength is excessively long, one tip you can try is to lightly fold the hooklength and wrap some pva tape around it. When the lead hits the bottom the tape will disolve allowing the hooklength to unfold itself as the bait rises.
You will need a lead of at least 2oz, a swivel, safety lead clip, anti tangle tubing.
Slide the tubing onto the mainline first, then the safety lead clip then followed by the tying the swivel with a blood knot or grinner knot then tie on your hooklength.
